How to Have Healthy Hair

Healthy hair starts from the inside out. What you eat and drink will have an effect on the condition of your hair. If you body is dehydrated, it will eventually affect your hair.

Other important factors for having healthy hair is chemical processing. If you regularly get your hair colored, permed or relaxed, you are more likely to suffer hair damage. Special care must be taken before and after you schedule any chemical processing. Be sure to use extra conditioning, maybe even schedule a weekly conditioning treatment to ward off any damage.

Make sure you get regular haircuts to keep your ends looking healthy. Split ends cannot be treated by using special hair products, contrary to the advertising claims of many companies. The only cure for split ends is to cut them off. So, if you are seeing split ends, head straight for the salon and get a trim.

Regular use of hot hair appliances is another important factor in hair damage. If you use the flat iron, blow dryer or curling iron every day without using any heat protecing products, you are just asking for trouble. There are many affordable heat protecting products available at the drugstore. You don't have to go out and spend a fortune to get a good product. Many times the expensive brand name hair care product will give you the better results though.

If your hair is very dry and damaged, you might want to start shampooing every other day. Skipping a day between shampoos can really help to strengthen your hair and make it less dry.

Salon conditioning treatments are also available if your hair is seriously damaged. In short, healthy hair is yours to have with just a few perventative steps and precautions.
